How do I set up Mozilla to dial / connect automatically to the Internet? (Windows)
The following simple steps explain, how you can set up your Windows system, so that Mozilla will automatically dial / connect to the internet if you have a modem connection...:
In Windows 98, open the Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control Panel). Double-click Internet Options. Select the Connections tab. Set the dial option to "Dial whenever a network connection is not present". Also, select one of the dialup connections and press the "Set Default" button.
In Windows 2000/XP open the Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control Panel). Double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Services. Look for the following services:
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Telephony
Set all those services to automatic.
Note: Mozilla cannot auto-disconnect.

Mozilla stole my Windows File Associations for .jpg and .gif
When you install Mozilla, it will set itself as the default viewer for various filetypes, including .JPG and .GIF. Here is how to undo this...:
Select Edit Menu > Preferences. Then open the Advanced category on the left and click on the System subcategory. In the file association box, uncheck all checkboxes for images. Mozilla will revert them back to their previous settings.

Show Web Address As Is
The following tip on showing non-English characters in the URL was published in the April 8th 2004 Mozilla Links Newsletter...:
If you surf non-English sites, you will encounter Web addresses with non-English characters in them. By default, Mozilla will "escape" these characters and show them as something like %e3%82%b3%e3 . This makes surfing difficult because you cannot see what exactly the Location Bar is showing. You can turn off this feature:
Type "about:config" in the Location Bar
In the filter box, type "network.standard-url.escape-utf8"
Double click the setting and set the value to "false"

Deleting Bookmarks in the Bookmark Manager
Select Bookmarks Menu > Manage Bookmarks to open the Bookmark manager. Now you can delete to your hearts content:
Highlight a single bookmark and to delete it press either Ctrl-D, or the delete key on your keyboard, or the delete button in the toolbar, or select Edit Menu > Delete.
Right click on the Bookmark you want to delete and select Delete from the context menu.
To highlight several bookmarks use ctrl-click or shift-click. Then press delete.
Press Ctrl-A to highlight all your Bookmarks. But the Bookmark Manager will not allow you to delete them all.
Highlighting and deleting a folder will remove the folder and everything within.
The two topmost folders (Bookmarks and Bookmarks Toolbar Folder) cannot be deleted.
